Happy Owlet

For those who haven't witnessed Lyze the happiest owlet, you are missing out. Literally the cutest thing and, without sounding soppy, always makes me happy! Look how soft she looks. Gosh.

I am determined to have an owl when I'm older. Normal request, right?

That Fresher Feeling

I wrote this article for the student newspaper when I was Lifestyle Editor and it got a few chuckles at the time, I think mainly because anyone  who has ever been on a heavy night out can relate quite easily, enjoy!

Imagine your skull is being crushed in a vice. This is what a typical freshers’ head feels like the morning after the night before.
We all know the drill, thinking that last round of shots at the bar was a top shout only to regret that decision the next morning when your room is spinning, you’ve got a pounding headache and it seems the only cure is a bacon sandwich (well, to find someone willing enough to make you one). That pint of water you miraculously managed to provide for yourself in the early hours has all gone and your mouth now resembles the texture of sand paper as a result. Sadly the distance to the kitchen is now too far to handle, so the chance of being hydrated in the near future is out of the question.
Along with feeling like death warmed up comes the hilarious tales of the previous night’s antics and the photographs you have already been tagged in on Facebook provide a few laughs while at the same time help to piece together the night. Be prepared to be on de-tag duty when you’re not feeling 100%.
Waking up looking like you’ve been dragged through a hedge backwards is probably a common occurrence for many people. School disco nights and UV nights often mean waking up with scribblings and messages you can’t quite decipher, all over you and your clothes or UV paint splattered over your face and arms (it’s more difficult than you think to draw a star on your face with UV paint!). Coming home with a handful of glow sticks or a sombrero in tow are usually signs of a good night whilst bruises and painful feet are not. Despite all of this we still insist on carrying on until the wee hours knowing we may regret it the following morning.
Sound familiar?
Everyone suffers the effects of alcohol differently, and a lucky few wake up feeling as fresh as a daisy, but it is equally important for everyone to keep well-hydrated and well-nourished if you want to prevent a hangover from hell. There are so many ‘remedies’ that claim to relieve the headaches and queasiness but a few of them do actually work and can help you feel human once again.
The most obvious is to drink plenty of water both when you get home from a night out and also in the morning in order to keep you hydrated. Fruit juices will raise your blood-sugar levels, erasing that sluggish feeling.
Walking to the nearest fast food outlet and maybe even home may sound like a horrific idea at the time, especially for girls in ridiculous (yet oh so beautiful) heels, but the fresh air on the way will help to sober you up and the stodgy food will raise your blood sugar levels. You’ll feel better for it in the morning.
Staying in bed all day and living up to the typical student stereotype will rest your head and rid the nasty hangover. Be patient, within 24 hours you’ll feel fighting fit and probably ready to do it all over again.

Zaza Hearts Zara

I've been through phases with Zara. When I was younger I always loved the younger girls' department, then I reached late teenage years and nothing ever caught my eye. Now, in my early twenties I love the place so much to the point where it has now overtaken Topshop in being my favourite high street store. This is a big deal if you know me personally! This last year or so the stock has been amazing with beautiful prints and soft fabrics. They take a popular trend and put their own little twist on it and even combine trends which normally wouldn't work; check shirts with studded detail, animal print silk shirts and brightly coloured two-tone shoes.

The accessories are always sold out (mainly due to the fashion and youtube bloggers raving about them!) but I can see why. The bags in particular are such good value for the quality, in comparison to a number of other highstreet stores whose bags are either not well made or just stupidly over-priced.

I recently purchased the 'City Bag with Chains' and I have used it non-stop for interviews, shopping and even a night out. So impressed with its versatility and also size as it holds so much more than you would initially think.

Two things I'm lusting over at the moment which will have to wait until payday

Whether its in store or online, make sure you have a cheeky little browse, I guarantee you'll find something you want and definitely something you'll want to save up for.

Ticking By

At the moment my days mainly consist of searching for jobs, constantly raiding the fridge out of boredom and refreshing Facebook. I am so easily distracted it hurts. I'll find everything and anything to get me out of doing the task at hand. Today was, shock horror, no different. I started scrolling through old photos and came across my Photography AS Level photographs. Since starting at university 3 years ago I haven't really used my SLR but stumbling across some of my old portfolio images has sparked something in me to pick up my camera and be a little bit more creative again.
I thought I'd include some of my favourite photographs I took what will now be 4 years ago. WHAT.

Bonjour

For a couple of years now I have been reading lifestyle blogs and have always wanted to make one myself, however, with university combined with the daunting thought of where on earth to begin with my own, I never started one. Until now! It's all a bit intimidating as there are so many amazing and unique blogs already out there but I just want to write a few of my little thoughts down for others to maybe read and ponder over.

I have just left the comfort of the university bubble and am currently deciding on a career path. I studied Psychology for 3 years and I am now the proud owner of  BSc Degree, but now I have finished I don't want to go into anything to do with the subject. Slightly awkward. I'm still clinging on to university life with my boyfriend still there studying for a Master's and a few of my close friends doing 4 years courses (so jealous!).

I'm looking forward to be able to be able to share some of my random thoughts (believe me, I have many) and some fashion favourites of mine. Bare with me though, it might take me a while to work out what all the buttons do.
